Mentoring Program
Mentoring: An Initiative
for Club Strength and Retention
Because knowledgeable, active Lions are necessary for
continuing club strength and retention, the association's
new Lions Mentoring Program is crucial for maintaining a
healthy, vibrant Lions club. This approach is designed to
form a bond between an experienced, knowledgeable Lion
(Mentor Lion) and a member (Protégé Lion) who desires to
enhance his/her abilities to become more active in their
clubs and in service to their communities. The Mentor Lion
shares knowledge and experience and is able to communicate
effectively with the Protégé Lion.
Four levels have been
designed to enable mentors to help new Lions develop
leadership skills. Each level is supported by its own
instructional Mentoring Planner. (Below are links to the 4
booklets, they are in .pdf format.)
 |
LEVEL ONE, Responsibility,
the Protégé Lion will receive basic orientation
knowledge and learn all that is expected of membership
in a Lions club. |
 |
LEVEL TWO,
Relationships,
the emphasis is on teamwork and the new Lion is expected
to achieve a number of specific objectives. |
 |
Results
is the subject of LEVEL THREE and it concentrates
on community projects and programs with the Protégé
Lion expected to take a greater role in club, district,
multiple district and international activities. |
 | Finally, in LEVEL FOUR, Replication,
the Protégé Lion has the opportunity to develop
leadership skills in other Lions who will continue to
provide ongoing growth for the association. |
